It is certainly verified that any advice ever given starts or ends with “drink more water”. There is no doubt that water is super-essential for mostly all problems and we should buck up and start acting on this advice, rather than just saying “yeah, yeah, I know”. But while you are gulping down a whole glass of water, read on all about how and why you should hydrate. 

Ways to keep your skin hydrated

Dehydrated skin is the cause to many other skin problems, therefore give your thirsty skin some relief by hydrating it. Always keep your skin hydrated like you always keep your cell phone charged.

Humidifiers add moisture to the air. During winter season or around areas experiencing a dry climate, humidifier is of great help. For people with dry, flaky skin, humidifier acts as an extra assistant to keep skin moist.

Some unhealthy lifestyle choices can leave your skin dehydrated. Too much caffeine intake, smoking or drinking alcohol regularly are some of the habits that restricts your body to absorb water. It causes water to be flushed out of the system more rapidly than its normal.

When you are washing your face, do not use hot water as it can dry out your skin and negate the healing properties of your skin. Use cold water or lukewarm water, if you have sensitive skin. Do not use harsh cleansers as it contains chemicals that eventually makes your skin feel too tight and flaky. You must find the best moisturizer that will suit you skin and give a glow your skin.

Use non-petroleum based moisturizer that has natural ingredients like argan oil, jojoba oil, shea butter, coconut, etc. Apart from using a face and body moisturizer, it is also essential to keep your hands and feet nourished equally, use a hand santizer and foot cream, that does not have alcohol and contain natural ingredients. 

  • Sunscreen

Do not forget to use sunscreen as UV rays weakens the skin’s barrier and rob the skin of its moisture. Sunscreen also prevents ageing and tanning, nowadays advanced sunscreen offers protection against blue light emitted from digital devices. So, look out for those kind of sunscreens and never forget to wear them.

  • Serum



Extra care, in case of hydration never goes to waste. Hydrating serums with quick absorbing texture penetrates your skin cells and open pores to hydrate them. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid and propylene glycol in your serums, which are excellent water attracting molecules.

Staying well hydrated can help maintain your skin’s elasticity and combat the appearance of those dreaded wrinkles. When properly hydrated, your skin takes on a more radiant-looking glow. That’s because your skin can’t rid itself of toxins without adequate hydration, resulting in irritation and inflammation.
